Always a fan of a good shopping spree, Lauren Conrad was spotted hitting up the trendy boutiques of 3rd Street in Los Aneles yesterday having a marvelous time.

The Hills starlet looked very fashionable in a white tank top teamed with a pleated red high-waisted skirt, sunglasses, and a pair of casual two-strap sandals. After awhile, she took a break with some gal pals for a late lunch at Joan's on Third.

And while LC is always putting on a smiley happy face, it seems that a series of disappointments, both personally and professionally, have caused her to spiral into a depp depression.

A close friend told press of a recent emotional breakdown. "She's an emotional train wreck. She usually doesn't lose it like that. But her life has spiraled out of control, and once she opened the floodgates, it was all over. She just crumpled, putting her head in her hands and sobbing."

Lauren Conrad Covers Entertainment Weekly

Lauren Conrad gives us the most intimate look ever at TV's sensational reality hit thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

"Every season, I think it's the last," the 22-year-old star from The Hills admits. "Right now, I think this is the last season. I go through phases when I've been filming where I wake up in the middle of the night and i think I'm being filmed. That's when I have to take a vacation." (Lauren's nightmare served as inspiration for the cover photo.)

Executive producer Adam DiVello says he can see the show going at least one more season , but ideally, "I'd love to stay with it until Lauren gets married."

DiVello also talked about the We'll get our shots, then you'll get yours alliance the show has with the paparazzi: We'll be filming at a restaurant and it will be us at a table, three cameras, and then a row of photographers behind the cameras. We don't want to shoot in the back of a restaurant so people can't see us. You want them on the patios.  The paparazzi really work with us. They stay behind the cameras."

The Hills star Audrina Partridge sat down with the LA Times to talk about her "secret life." Here's what the 23-year-old aspiring actress had to say:

What's the biggest misconception about you? I don't feel like they show me on The Hills sticking up for myself. They edit that out. I'm generally happy with how I look when it comes out. In real life, though, I'm bubbly and fun and talkative and when you see me on the show I'm always sitting there and sad. But I'm fine with it because it's not my show. I'm there because of Lauren.

Tell us about the first time you got recognized in public? I think it was during the second season. It was a lot of little girls. Some of them cried. I kept telling them, 'I'm normal, I promise.' There was also one time when this older woman at a make-up counter just started giving me advice about Justin Bobby and the girls and living in L.A. It was weird, but when people meet me they feel like they know me. I was at the beach just yesterday and this lady from Minnesota sat down and just started talking to me. They just feel very comfortable. It's very flattering.

What's the best thing about being a star? The best part is getting opportunities to go to huge awards shows. We got to present at the MTV VMAs last year and you're surrounded by these amazing artists. It's just so exciting.

Seemingly always i the mood for a good party, Lauren Conrad was out on Sunday celebrating the 40th Anniversary of McDonald's Big Mac in Malibu, California.

Enjoying the company of fellow reality stars Kim Kardahsian and her sister Khloe, The Hills cutie kept busy at the Project Beach House shindig, relaxing on a lounge chair in between mingling and a few autographs.

LC has been busy defending herself from rumors that she doesn't actually design the clothes in her collection.

"The rumors that I am not the designer of my own collection are ridiculous and hurtful," the 22-year-old told Us magazine. "I've been involved in this entire process, every single step of the way."

"I have wanted to be a fashion designer since I was a little girl. I grew up designing and sewing dresses for my Barbie dolls, and the Lauren Conrad Collection has been my dream come true," she adds.

Lauren Conrad's Weekend Shopping With Lo

Enjoying a relaxing girls day out, Lauren Conrad and her Hills co-star/gal pal Lauren Lo Bosworth ventured out in Los Angeles for a shopping spree/lunch date on Saturday afternoon (July 26).

The reality star duo were seen shopping at Intermix, where LC made a few purchases before following behind Lo as they made their way to Agent Provocateur on Melrose Avenue.

After working up quite the appetite during their retail excursion, the two Lauren's then chowed down at El Coyote Mexican restaurant on Beverly Blvd before calling it a day and heading back home.

Meanwhile, Miss Conrad recently responded to reports alleging that she's not involved with the creation of  her clothing line, the Lauren Conrad Collection.

"The rumors that I am not the designer of my own collection are ridiculous and hurtful," the 22-year-old told Us magazine. "I've been involved in this entire process, every single step of the way."

Lauren Conrad: Crown Bar Clubber

We all have nights when we go a little overboard and rely on our designated driver. And Wednesday night Lauren Conrad looked like she had a few too many.

The Hills hottie was spotted on her way out of Hollywood nightclub the Crown Bar and as she got in her chauffeured car it was clear that she was headed home to take a few Aspirin and hit the sack.

As for the latest news that LC's line has been dropped from Kitson boutique's shelves, her rep says it's no biggie as she's still in over 500 stores including Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Planet Blue and Fred Segal.

And according to FOX Pop Tarts, Conrad is involved in the design of each of her line's pieces from start to finish. Her rep told press, "Lauren designs the line from start to finish, doing everything from sketching to fabric selection to fitting the garments."

Lauren Conrad: Undercover At LAX

With all of the constant media attention they have to endure, sometimes it's nice to try and slip away unnoticed. And Sunday, July 20th, Lauren Conrad unsuccessfully attempted to fly under the radar at LAX International Airport.

The Hills cutie was spotted checking in for an outgoing flight as she laughed at an incoming text message on her mobile phone.

She sported a baggy grey hoodie (with the hood up to disguise her), sunglasses, jeans with flip flops, and a bright pink oversized purse. So much for the incognito attempt.

LC is still trying to figure out a strategy to get her fashion line back on its feet. Lauren's clothing line was recently dropped by Los Angeles boutique Kitson, du to poor sales.

And Kitson's owner Fraser Ross says it has everything to do with Conrad's lack of interest in promoting her product in-person. "Celebrity clothing lines are tough to sell as it is, and you have to promote your line just as you would an album or TV show. Lauren has been on Robertson (where the boutique is located) three times since her clothing line launched but she couldn't pop by to say hello to the sales staff that sell her line to here fans."

MTV tells us a few tidbits about the upcoming season of The Hills: "Well, despite what the tabloids would have you believe, there's a whole lot more to Season 4 than a so-called feud between Audrina and Lo. From spontaneously appearing siblings (i.e. Heidi's never - before-mentioned sister!) to Stephanie's secret romantic foibles to Lauren's private jet-owning new love interest, this season has more drama than a Jerry Springer marathon."

The Hills Season 4 premieres August 18th.

Lauren Conrad receives a funny text message which mage her laugh while waiting in line at LAX airport on Sunday, July 20th.

The Hills star wheeled her own luggage to the check-in desk, dressed in a purple hooded sweater pulled over her head, and sunglasses.

Lauren had to remove her sweater and flip flops while going through security before boarding her plane.

Last week, Lauren tried to explain her actions at the annual Paws for Style event in NYC, where she was accused of unprofessional behavior and skipping out early.

Lauren Conrad Clears Charity Controversy

Lauren Conrad recently attended Animal Fair Media's 2008 Annual Paws For Style at Arena in New York City on Tuesday. Since then, controversy has erupted as to whether or not the charity funded her trip to New York City.

Lauren responded on Wednesday via her Myspace Celebrity blog:

"I would like to address some of the internet rumors regarding what happened at an event I attended in New York City on Tuesday. I was invited by Animal Fair Magazine to attend a charity even, Paws For Style fashion show. I have always been a supporter of animal causes. I own 2 rescue animals and this sounded like a great event. I agreed to pose for the cover of the magazine, host the event, do press at the event and donate clothing, all of which I did. I was not aware of any other commitments. I was not paid to attend to event and my hotel room was donated to the charity. I also made a voluntary donation to the Humane Society for more then the cost of my airfare so there would be no expense to the charity. I have always been responsible and keep my word on all commitments. I am extremely hurt and disappointed that Wendy Diamond would go to the press and attack me with untrue statements. Anyone who knows me, knows this is not the kind of person I am or who my parent's raised me to be. It's just embarrassing that people are saying these things about me. I was trying to do a good thing and help out a charity by doing everything I agreed to do. I continue to support the Human Society, and it is a wonderful organization."

Earlier this week, she checked out the premiere of "The Dark Knight," and yesterday, Lauren Conrad was all about checking out the 2008 Paws for Style even.

The "Hills" hottie was spotted hamming it up for the paparazzi outside Arena for the Animal Fair Media Shindig, looking hot in a knee-length red party dress teamed with black peep-toe heels.

And while she has a penchant for fashion design, it seems LC doesn't quite have what it takes to maintain a high-profile boutique presence, as Kitson just dropped her line. According to owner Fraser Ross, "Sales were lackluster."

Ross explained, "Initially it was great. But they need to realize it's no different than selling your album, your TV shows, your movies. You have to keep promoting it."

Lauren Conrad's Busy Night In NYC

Taking a break from her West Coast surroundings, Lauren Conrad was spotted hamming it up at the New York City premiere of The Dark Night along with the film's stars Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Morgan Freeman.

And LC was looking sassy as she strolled the black carpet (changed from the traditional red color in honor of Heath Ledger) outside the AMC Loews Lincoln Center in a black and grey cocktail dress teamed with black Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels.

Following the premiere, Miss Conrad headed over to the Hudson Terrace for the Vitaminwater Celebrates in Style with the Best in Baseball and Music event.

And if you're a guy thinking that it might be cool to date Lauren, you'd better make sure your background is clear. Conrad recently told press she Googles her guys before she goes out with them.

"Yeah, for all of them! But I don't believe everything I read though. I Google pictures to see ex-girlfriends and stuff," she tells.

As for the lessons she's learned this past year, LC says she's thankful for her real friends. "I have really gotten a chance to see who my true friends are and who is going to be there for me, you know, no matter what? Like Lo Bosworth is one of my best friends from high school, and Audrina Partridge obviously has always been there for me, and I think that when it gets to a point when it's almost too much - that's when those people are there for you."

"Initially it was great." Ross tried to get Conrad to do a personal appearance in the store but said her people couldn't figure out a date. "They need to realize it's no different than selling your album, your TV shows, your movies. You have to keep promoting it."

Lauren Conrad's NYC Seaplane Adventure

Getting away from all of the drama back home in Los Angeles, Lauren Conrad packed up her bags and headed off to the east coast for a getaway with a few gal pals.

The reality show starlet looked comfy casual in a pair of jeans and a grey sweatshirt as she was seen boarding a seaplane on the East river in Manhattan, New York on Saturday (July 12) for the last leg of her journey to the Hamptons.

As for what’s going on back at her LA pad, recent rumors speculated that LC’s former BFF Audrina Partridge was moving out of their shared house after a moving truck was seen parked in front of their pad.

Since that time, Audrina has denied the reports, telling Access Hollywood that she hasn’t packed her bags just yet. But insiders continue to tell that all is not well, as there were also reports of screaming between two female voices coming from the house.
